Consider the following scenario: 1,000,000 liquid funds for income and minimal equity for capital gain. With that in mind we construct this hypothetical conservative portfolio.


  1. Yield on the SP 500: 1.62%

  2. 10 yr Corporate bond: 2.03%

  3. Publicly Traded REIT: 3.50%

  4. 10-year Annuity: 4.00%






The above investments represent a hypothetical income portfolio.. While we can find variations, these represent a realistic expectation of what we can expect from an income standpoint. If we equally weight and average these assets for an income source we end up with a balmy 2.78% paycheck for our investment. A 1,000,000 investment in this portfolio would deliver 27,800 per year for our risk.
